Metatags for Websites

Metatags are properly one of the most important parts of a website. Metatags are used for websites that are owned by businesses, individuals, schools, sports teams, non-profit organizations and many other outlets. Why? These short but sweet words or phrases help websites to appear higher up in search engines and let the reader know what your site is all about. A one sentence description of your website with the proper metatags can mean the difference between attracting thousands of readers to your site and having your site pick up only a couple of readers every now and then.

Metatags are extremely important to a website because they don’t only entice readers to visit the site but they also help the site appear higher up in search engine results, which also means more readers will visit the site, which in turn can mean a higher profit from the site. Metatags are placed in the source code of the person or business’ website when it is created by the web design company.

How can I find out if my site has metatags or not? The answer is quite simple; load your homepage on your computer. Once the homepage is loaded you need to click on the View option at the top of the Internet screen. When the View drop down is evident you should click on Page Source. A box will appear with the code for that web page. In the code will be the metatags that you have provided to the web design company that help to explain your website. Remember, whenever you build a website you should always include metatags since they entice readers to visit your site.
