Marketing Products in a Magazine

24 June 2009 209 views No Comment

Marketing products in a magazine has become a popular marketing scheme used by companies all across the country these days. Why? Magazines have circulations upwards of 100,000 people in most instances and some of the most popular magazines circulate over one million copies each time they go to the publisher.

The first step in marketing a product in a magazine is to determine what type of magazine the product should be marketed in. For example, if your product is baseball cleats you should market the product in sports magazines such as ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, Baseball Digest, Baseball America and USA Today Sports Weekly. If your product is a coffee maker you should market the product in home improvement magazines such as Good Housekeeping.

When marketing a product in a magazine one must put together a campaign that reaches all aspects of their demographic. For instance, the campaign should include a sales page in the magazine that details the product, its features, the price and where to order the product. The product can be ordered on the company’s website or by filling out an order form provided in the magazine. The campaign should also include a picture or two of the product as well as a still photo one of the ads used on television with the product spokesman.

Marketing a product in a magazine is an easy campaign to put together for companies. The only difficult obstacle they might face is actually getting the ad into the magazine because of limited space and already existing customers.
